I have always been afraid of flying although have not stopped from flying - take off and turbulence were bad times and I would be crying etc.
2 weeks before flying I did Captain Keith's course and I found that the explanations and coping strategies learnt made the process a lot more pleasant. I won't say that I am entirly comfortable but there were no tears during my flight to and from Australia which included a particularly long stretch of turbulent air from Hong Kong to London.
For the first time I managed to sleep for significant periods on the plane and even fell asleep during the turbulence.
I would recommend the course at Alton to anyone who can make it and whilst I would not describe myself as totally cured the improvement was significant.
