Hi Everyone

It's been a while since I posted but have been keeping an eye on things here.

It's thanks to this forum that I can even say 'Next Flight To Australia Booked'. First one was in October 2008, 2nd one in December 2009.

I havn't had to go this year because my daughter and grand daughters are coming here on 4th November (about 3 weeks time, yeaaa) for my sons wedding on the 20th, can't wait to see them all.

We had planned to go in August 2011 for our 30th wedding anniversary and my daughters birthday but my daughter has announced that our 3rd grand child is due on 7th April so that's scuppered the plans hence our flights are now booked for 17th April 2011, we are going for 8 weeks this time.

I have to say as soon as I booked the flights the butterflys kicked in, but it's a h*ll of an improvement on 2008, to say I was 'terrified' is an understatement, however I have come a long long way since then. I can now competantly (sp) book the seats, pick the seats, meals etc. I could hardly log on to the website to look at flights a couple of years ago!!!

So I will be popping back here to let you all know how the nerves are holding up and see how you are all getting on.

I have posted the links to my other 2 flights for any 'newbies' on the forum if you want to read them.

Good Luck to all of you with flights coming up, stay positive.

Fear of flying

What a wonderful thing it all is and how great it is that the family in Oz is so close now.

Who would ever have believed it?

WELL DONE WELL DONE

Keith
Hi Keith

You have hit the nail right on the head there.

When Emma told me she was emigrating she might as well have said she was going to the moon and, although Oz is no short journey 10,500 each way!!! I know now it is achievable (as you know) thanks to this FANTASTIC site :)

Hi Everyone

Well the girls have come and gone and my son is now all grown up and married :)

Our plans are now starting in earnest, the flights are booked for 17th April stopover in Singapore for 2 nights to rest up then on to Brisbane on 19th to arrive on 20th April where my new grandchild with either be here or most deffinatly on the way lol.

We are staying for 8 weeks and Emma is going to have the christening while we and it's other Grandma will be there (that's another first Nana and Grandma in Oz together).

Hubby and I want to explore Australia a little too, when we are there for 4 weeks the time just flies so we never get a chance to get out and about, we are even thinking of buying a little campervan because the house will be fuller once the baby arrives so cant impose on them all for 8 weeks!!!

I must admit I am a bit 'shaky' but at least I can even type this and talk about it without almost passing out.

It is no understatement to say that, I know I have come such a long way, and that if it hadnt been for Keith and this site, at this moment in time I would be mourning the fact that I would proberbly never see my new grand child until it was much older and the family could have afforded to travel, which would have been a very very long time.

Roll on 17th April 14 weeks......and counting :)

Yay, way to go Phoebe. I'm  SO proud of you (((hugs)))

Wow, 2 of the group members off to Australia, me in March, you in April LOL. How far have we come Phoebe in our journey to get over our fears eh? I can only echo what you say and that is a huge THANK YOU to Keith and this site, for I know for me, without his guidance and the support I have recieved, I could not have carried on with the stress that my fears caused not only me but the effect it had on my husband, and ultimately my son.

Just a shame we won't be there at the same time as your daughter and my uncle live so close.
