That really is a story to be proud of. It seems that you've had to battle with everything recently so your achievement is all the better. I am so pleased for you and hope that you'll stay with us whenever you can to encourage others with your…
I just want to apologies for the delay in my update.
My flight to NZ couldn't have gone better. I was a bawling mess at the airport. I took my medication 1 hour before boarding and I made sure I avoided everything caffeinated that day. Everyone was…

I know it's hard for you to hear this but stop hoping for things, because that becomes the focus of success. Success will come because you're dealing with your anxiety not because a hope or wish seems to have come true.
Be realistic and accep…
Thank you to everyone for your support. It means everything in the world to me.
Yes, I've been practicing my breathing exercises and that part is going well. Last night I took a whole oxazepam tablet just to make sure I could tolerate it. I did, al…
I am always nervous at take-off but having read Keiths book many times i can understand the feelings you get when the plane takes off, i have the same routine when the plane is ready to take-off i sit with the in-flight magazine and when the plane i…
Heidi,
I don't like take off either. But you know sometimes I am nervous and other times I think I will be and actually when I get on the plane and sit down I am actually fine. So my point is you do not know how you are going to feel until you get…
Are you doing your breathing exercises every day ? - at every opportunity?
If you keep doing them they will become second nature to you.
I find inhaling through your nose and counting slowly to 5, followed by holding your breath while continuing cou…

Have more confidence in yourself. It won't be easy to keep your breathing exercises going BUT IF YOU DO, YOU WILL FEEL IN CONTROL AND YOU WILL BE IN CONTROL.
That's the payoff....at the time the pressure to give up is greatest you've got to…
YOU WILL GET ON THE PLANE...dont you worry Heidi! Remember this is all anticipatory anxiety and the build up to a flight is ALWAYS much worse than the take off itself. when I was flying back from Morrocco a month ago I honestly didnt think I would b…
I'm already in Aussie. :) I'll be taking a 3 and a half hour flight to NZ. Thank you for the warm wishes.
Yes, my fella just told me that about the plane too. He knew I'd be freaking out about it.
My flight is on Friday morning at 9:30am Aussie EST. I am not a happy camper to say the very least.
I really don't want to take this flight. It's actually ruining the excitement about my holiday. I'm worried that I'll be doing my breathing exercise…
Gah! I just heard about this incident on the news too. I too am having trouble getting that out of my head. I fly on Friday morning (Aussie EST) and I'm starting to feel REALLY nervous.
When's your flight?
As we all know, my gripe is with take-off. From watching the videos on here it seems that the main part of the take-off (the part that bothers me anyway) goes for about a minute or under. I count it from when the wheels leave the ground.
Yes correct breathing is vital.
I've just finished an audio course for the fear of flying and we'll release it as soon as the new site is ready and I say exactly what you've suggested deleting file soff a hard drive is what you are trying to do....…
Hello Heidi... a warm welcome to you...even after all this time!
Thanks for joining the network and I hope you’ll find it useful. Our aim is to give help support and encouragement to anyone who has a fear of flying. If you want to tell us your story please do so, if you prefer to just observe and pick up hints and tips from people then that’s fine too. We want you to use the network in the way that’s best for you.
I’m here to answer any of your questions and I‘ll try to do so as quickly as I can although sometimes I get a bit busy and miss some posts. Just keep pestering me and I’ll answer you.
If you think there’s something we should add to the network, let me know and I’ll see if we can incorporate it.
Finally an apology for this slightly less than personal welcome...as you can imagine keeping up with things is very time consuming and there are many calls on my time...but rather than not acknowledge your joining I thought this pre-recorded message would be slightly better!
And finally finally to those of you who joined ages ago and who I missed welcoming on the day you signed up a special apology.
I look forward to meeting you through the network. There is a chat facility which I keep open whenever I’m on line so just click the button and you can IM me.
