What's going on there?! I'm waiting for my flight in Kiev and my Facebook and twitter are full of people talking about some huge storm. Checked news sites and they're all sounding similarly…Continue

Quick disclaimer: I’m very tired and stressed out and I know this may all sound a bit mad, but as I’m driving myself mad, why not share it?It’s so icy here! And I’ve been reading about what airports…Continue

Today in Kiev we had the kind of snow that would normally bring England to a standstill (i.e. about 6 inches.) Everyone in the office has been speculating as to whether or not we’ll be able to fly…Continue

What do you do with them?My next flight’s in 4 weeks (too much flying this year! I’d have had a nervous breakdown by now if I hadn’t found this site) and this time I’ll have two colleagues with…Continue

Over the summer I took 5 flights in 4 weeks. I really think I’m where I wanted to be with getting over my fear.
Normally booking tickets would be stressful and involve researching airline safety records and checking weather forecasts. This time I genuinely forgot to do all that. The only flight where that crossed my mind was with Croatia Airlines, but I remembered Keith saying any carrier that flies over the EU has to comply with massively strict rules and that made me feel…

It's been almost 9 months since I last posted a blog. I've flown 6 times since then.
A few weeks ago was our May holiday and I went with some friends to Georgia. I was really excited about the holiday and did everything I could to not think about the two-hour flight there and back. Then a couple of days before leaving I cracked and went on an internet frenzy, checking weather forecasts, looking at details of Tbilisi airport (looking for nearby mountains), and trying to guess what kind…

I was reading this blog - the thing about the spoons. I remember Keith telling us about it on the groundcourse, and Enrico going to the bathroom to try it out. And I vaguely remembered having heard of it before.
A day or so after posting the blog, Keith gave the answer to what caused it - Bernoulli's principle. Again, I thought it sounded familiar but I didn't really know…

What was different about this flight?
In the run up to the flight, I didn’t spend as much time dwelling on it or panicking, and I think the course had a lot to do with that. There wasn’t as much to speculate about and I could answer a lot of questions that came up on my own. Having said that, in the week before there were a couple of days when the nerves did hit, and badly! I probably crammed a week’s worth of fretting into two days. My mantra for the week was, ‘there’s nothing…

Return journey bit more stressful... Palma airport is huge, queues slowly snaking... ground crew reluctant to allow me assistance.. Boarded plane & as promised by outbound crew seats had been reserved at front of plane & steward sat beside me for take off. Flight very bumpy but mantra (thank you Captain Keith) was 'uncomfortable but not dangerous!' Descent was very bumpy but was told always is over the Forth - didn't like it but holiday was so worth it! I coped, I read the in flight magazine 4 times, listened to my hypnotherapy CD x2 dulling my senses, focused on the locker which said 'no stowage' & clock watched. I did it & will do it again! I couldn't have done it without all the support here. Thank you!
& no go arounds! I will have my cuba libra in front of me to check for wobbles. Can you be on standby tomorrow am incase of wobbles?

Don't hope for things to be OK. Make them OK by taking control of the things you can control and then have strategies to deal with the things that you can't control.
I don't think you should worry about letting anyone down...be a little selfish and think of yourself. Why are you doing it...you're doing it for you...for your benefit. Forget anyone else until you have the capacity to include them. Other people can be selfish...but in a different way. You can let him down..but you don't want to...they're two different things.
But the reality is that you'll get there, you'll be happy, your husband will be proud of you and the kids will be there when you get back.
My kids were unfazed by the fact that I was flying...in fact they hardly looked up when iI to;ld them I was off to New York or where ever. They don't worry half as much as we do.

Hi ...and thanks for joining us on this the internet’s biggest and most successful social network for fearful flyers.
Please don’t hesitate to ask me anything you need to know about. I will always give you honest answers, and I hope that I will be able to explain the complexities of flying in a way that is accurate, helpful and interesting to you.
Please post your stories, videos and pictures to encourage others to share your successes and to encourage them when they need support.
We’ve got a lot of help and information on our website (flyingwithoutfear.com) and our shop has all the help you’re ever likely to need (Book, CD, DVD, Guide, Audio Courses).
May I encourage you to face your fear as soon as possible? I know that you will think that the longer you leave addressing your fear the better it will be for you. In fact the opposite is true. When you look around the site and on this forum I can promise you that you will not uncover something that will make you more nervous than you are right now. This site is written in a way to help you to overcome your fear.
We don’t do the hearty slap on the back stuff, and we don’t do the ‘Look how easy it is to fly a plane’ angle.
We’re here to help you by explaining the truth as simply and helpfully as we can.
Best wishes...and it would help everyone if you could add your location to the map (but only if you want to...it's your choice...it's your community )
