So four weeks and counting....

Am beyond excited about my forthcoming trip......going to LAPLAND to do the Santa and Husky think and really hoping to see the Northern Lights!

Have wanted to do this trip since I was about 20 and was either too poor or too terrified to go (usually both) however here I am faced with absolute dream come true of more snow than you can shake a stick…

Captain Keith's email re landing in fog

I have just read this email with extra interest because when I was flying back from Nice to Belfast a few weeks ago as we wee approaching Paris we left the clear skies an lovely aerial views behind.  It was so misty I though we were going to land at Belfast International without seeing the runway.

It is in these instances that I have found the logical explanations so valuable and helped to convince me of the safety of flying. As I read the email it triggered a memory of my standing…

Flight Nice to Belfast

Thank you Elizabeth for your comments and yes indeed I am back home.  I had two very pleasant flights looking out all the way the flight to Nice was particularly enjoyable the only 'drawback' was the Captain not telling us the flight path! I asked the Stewardess at one stage what coastline we had just crossed over - she didn't know but asked the Captain! We were flying over Normandy.  I find it helps a lot and makes it more real when I know where we are flying over.  Another step forward and…

Long haul flight in 1m 3d,10h and 28m - not that Im counting!

I found this site through Twitter as I do have a fear of flying.  I have not had it all my life and actually used to get excited about flying.  For my honeymoon we flew to Bali and even had a fire on the flight - which resulted in the air stewardess sitting behind me with a fire extinguisher for 8 hours as a precaution , but this did not even put me off.

I have got worse since I have had children who are now 13 and 10 but try not to show them my fear as I do not want them to become…

Forthcoming Flight to Belfast to Nice

Due to go on holiday Tuesday next the 24th Sept flying from Belfast Intl to Nice.  Looked up Internet for flying time which it seems is the same as from Belfast Intl to Jersey - 2hrs 35mins.  I flew to Jersey last September so I shouldn't find the time factor a problem.  It helps me pass the time when I visualise the flight path and imagine where the plane is flying over - helps to keep it real.  Big big change for me for me to be more apprehensive about going away with 17 others than I am…

Key Elements Of golf swing Across The UK

7 Steps To Better Golf Swing

Last weekend was great for me! I got to do what I love best, and that is playing a round of golf with my friends. Being for most of us in our foursome it was the first time playing after the winter break. Most of us weren't very good. We hit a lot of bad errant shots mixed in with some good ones. We kept score but, we were all higher than our normal scores.

Golf swing instructions are essential to learning not only the basics of the sport but… Continue

Nailed it!

Over the summer I took 5 flights in 4 weeks. I really think I’m where I wanted to be with getting over my fear.

Normally booking tickets would be stressful and involve researching airline safety records and checking weather forecasts. This time I genuinely forgot to do all that. The only flight where that crossed my mind was with Croatia Airlines, but I remembered Keith saying any carrier that flies over the EU has to comply with massively strict rules and that made me feel…

Flight in two days

Hi all,

I'll have flight in 2 days. CPH to VNO and back after 4 more days. Short trip, but I'm worried. Last time I flew to CPH and had a seat in CRJ9 without window and you know what ? My fear was half less than usual. So maybe in my case it's height who is the biggest cause of fear. Anyway, I'm worried now, but I feel like this worry is far more lower than usual. I believe that's good sign. I'll let you know how I felt when I come back. The only good thing about trip is that…

Went to Greece and back, controlled the fear

Knowledge is power! I would say Im 70% cured as I handled my fear. I was able to look out if the window on take off and landing, go with the flow with turbulence and generally felt like I was an absolute knowledge bank about aviation. Bizarrely I also quite enjoyed the flights despite my fear creaping up now and then.

I read the book and listened to the CD on the way there and back, it made me feel confident.

Thanks to Keith, Jasper and all the great people on here

Anxiety over flight on Monday

Hey everyone, I've got a 13-hour flight to London Heathrow on Monday and I am terrified. I've been close to tears all day and I don't think I can muster up enough courage to face my fears. What should I do? I feel so tired out from the anxiety.

Will I fly?

Over the last 3 years my fear of flying has increased. I fear it all: the months of anticipation to a flight, the airport, plane, falling out of the sky etc. I was due to go to Berlin in March for my 30th birthday, then there was a technical fault on the plane which meant we were stuck in in taxi for 2 hours while they fixed it. I freaked out, all the weird noises, the caltain wandering was too much so I made myself and my wife get off the plane. I ruined my birthday but more… Continue

Finally booked my flight to the UK

After deliberating for weeks, I mustered up the courage to book myself on a 13-hour flight to UK on 12 Aug. Feeling terrified and elated at the same time. It's a small step but at least I am one step closer than I was a day ago.

Please send me positive energy! I need it to face my fears.

Thank you.

Flying Tomorrow: CHS to SKB - nervous

Hello Everyone!

As new person in this forum, it's been so helpful to read all of your stories, so thanks so much for sharing. Tomorrow, I am flying from Charleston, SC, USA to St. Kitts, via Atlanta. I haven't flown in about 6 years. I made one attempt in the interim but got off the plane (not one of my proudest moments). I've been planning this trip for months and thought I had made some headway, but then the SFO crash happened, and I feel I am back to square one. I don't want to let…

anxiety about long haul flight :(

Hi everyone! I really need some advice about my upcoming long haul flight to the UK from Singapore. I was meant to fly at the end of April, but because of work commitments and visa hiccups, I've been putting it off. It's also probably due to my anxiety about making this 13-hour journey that I've been putting it off.

I'm supposed to leave at the end of July but just looking at flight schedules is a nerve-wrecking experience. My main worry is turbulence. Unfortunately many seasoned…

Home again - a little improvement:)

Saturday I was home again. After 14 days in wonderfull Spain.

The flight down there was actually better than expected. I was crying in the airport, and I was crying at take off, but with the " flying without fear" cd in my ears I managed to calm down, and I actually enjoyed to look out of the window. I was so proud:)

My flight back to Denmark was no good. I knew that the Wetter down Europe was bad (and I really hate, to fly over a cloudy sky). So, I cryed all the way to… Continue
