Capt Keith with your help I believe I may have finally overcome my fear of flying Travelled to TX 2 flights each way and even experienced turbulence all while remaining calm. I have you to thank for this. I am grateful.
So, in July my friend really wants me to go birdwatching with him in Barcelona, and I also really want to go. I speak fluent Spanish so it would be brilliant practice, and I've been to Spain three times before and absolutely loved it. But It has taken a lot for me to be able to fly there, and I get very nervous.
The year before last after reading Captain Keith's book, I plucked up the courage to go to Madrid on a school trip without my parents, and the flight out was the best I've…Continue
Well my Dad emigrated July last year to Thailand. Both my siblings have been out there and I am the only one who hasn't. I kept putting it off as I was petrified of flying. But after a while I began to think, I want to see my Dad, so I got brave and booked the flight to Thailand - solo! Since I booked the flight I have been having nightmares, night terrors, anxiety attacks etc etc....I even thought about cancelling the whole holiday several times. I was browsing on the net and came…Continue
Hello all - i wonder if anyone can help... i am generally feeling better about flying than i was previously, thanks mostly to this site and the dvd and book, and following 4 long haul flights over Christmas... but my husband has just sprung some flights on me, and I am feeling nervous because it will either be Air Mauritius or South African Airways - I don't know much about these airlines, other than financially Air Mauritius is not doing great at the moment but it does have a good…Continue

Dear Keith and everyone, we have just returned from Jersey (again).
We set off on Friday morning from Birmingham, I had a nervous tummy whilst waiting to board, but when we went up the steps to the plane, the air stewardess was so smiley and welcoming, I almost forgot that I was nervous!... We took off and once in the air we reached 24,000 ft.
I carried on with my crosswords and when we landed the air stewardess asked me if I was 'nervous' as I'd not looked up during the…Continue
Should it be a new airport or another runway for London?
One thing's for sure the politicians will do whatever they think is the most popular to keep them in power but from a fearful flyers point of view the worry will be about all those extra planes in the air all needing space to get to the new facility.
Air Traffic Control has changed so much in the last few years that we'd be going backwards if we couldn't handle more aircraft. Aircraft navigational systems can…Continue
HI im flying out to paris from t5 tomorrow afternoon i have been pretty good most of the week until i open the daily mail website on monday only to be greeeted with the headline of BA pilots almost pass out at the controls on a flight from heathrow to scotland now im starting to worry again about air contamination from air compressed by the engines - and i dont know how 2 pilots can almost pass out and requre oxygen and be forces to make an emergency landing - arrh i was doing so well now i…Continue
I was just wondering if anyone wanted to share ideas about the possible causes/reasons for fear of flying. I recently did the other two 6 hr flights (UK - Dubai and Dubai to Mauritius where we are currently living) and felt more scared than I did on the first 2 flights to the UK which i was really annoyed at myself about. My fear started when i was mid twenties, and at the same time my life was fairly stressful, working full time, DIY on the building site of a house most weekends so very…Continue
So have got to do it again this year, and cant bottle it as bridesmaid for best friend. So have bought books, cds and dvds and going to see what happens!!
A pilot accidentally got locked in an airplane toilet on a New York-bound flight after the latch on the door jammed as the plane was about to land.
The drama unfolded onboard the Chautauqua Airlines flight on Wednesday evening, after the pilot took a mid-air toilet break and got trapped in the bathroom.
One of the passengers heard the pilot knocking on the door trying to attract attention and went to help.
Unaware of what was actually happening onboard, the co-pilot…
Got back yesterday 10 hours there and back with xxxx. I cant believe I did it and hardly looked at my watch.. Iv never managed more than 2 hours before. Used NLP, over and over , lots of bachs flower remedy sprays and lots of relaxation exercises.

Flew back home from Leeds Bradford to Belfast on Wednesday evening and just like the outward journey there was not that pre- journey panic thankfully. On the previous Friday when I was flying to Leeds from Belfast my friend had to drop me off early so I was about two hours at the airport and that was a test in itself as to how things have improved so much. Normally I would be pacing up and down and back and forward to the ladies! I managed to sit and do my crossword until a rather dour young…Continue
Flying to Leeds again this evening at 6.30pm and what a joy it is to be able to say I have not had any of the pre flight anxiety - there have been times throughout the week I have looked forward to flying - I feel I know the route!! I think it is starting to feel natural.
Laura thought the course toaday was perfect

Hi everyone... we are back from our second trip to Jersey!
We did it.
The only hiccup was my so called friends thought it was funny to make sick jokes about flying whilst I was sat in the airport. This is a crucial time for fearful flyers as there is still time to opt out of getting on the plane! I felt very stressed so I got my crossword book out and listened to my fave tunes and ignored them. As we boarded the plane the pilot gave us a wave. This helped to calm the nerves.…Continue
It would take me too long to exploit the nonsense in this newspaper report but I'll just pick out a few of the words and sentences and give you my view of them.
Quote from a passenger "It was dark but suddenly all the lights came on..." Well if it's dark and you turn on a light it is sudden...that's the nature of light.
"...and all the air hostesses were shouting and we could see a man trying to open the emergency door. The plane started shaking." I know for a fact…Continue
I hope you are keeping well. Have you been to Guernsey to see your family? We are off on Friday again to Jersey from Birmingham as it is the Christening - so an important visit. I am sort of okay, but last week I noticed that the flights to Jersey were cancelled because of fog!
Now we have this terrible hurricane and winds, I am hoping that all of this inclement weather will cease by Friday. I have a nervy tummy but I am determined to get to see the family again.…Continue
The last flight I took was less than 2 hours long and was my honeymoon 3 years ago! the location was Palma and we then got on a cruise.. I have managed to 'get away with it for 3 years but again feel resentfull of my terrible fear of flying. As I am 50 this year my husband as managed to encourage me into agreeing to a flight to Vegas... ironically not a location I would have chosen as no beech to lay on but Iv agreed.
I realise that 50 is a markable age and I just dont want…Continue
