Hello all - i wonder if anyone can help... i am generally feeling better about flying than i was previously, thanks mostly to this site and the dvd and book, and following 4 long haul flights over Christmas... but my husband has just sprung some flights on me, and I am feeling nervous because it will either be Air Mauritius or South African Airways - I don't know much about these airlines, other than financially Air Mauritius is not doing great at the moment but it does have a good…Continue

I was just wondering if anyone wanted to share ideas about the possible causes/reasons for fear of flying. I recently did the other two 6 hr flights (UK - Dubai and Dubai to Mauritius where we are currently living) and felt more scared than I did on the first 2 flights to the UK which i was really annoyed at myself about. My fear started when i was mid twenties, and at the same time my life was fairly stressful, working full time, DIY on the building site of a house most weekends so very…Continue
Hi there, i've got a bunch of flights coming up... a small atr air mauritius or air austral from mauritius to a neighbouring island , then later on four flights on Emirates via Dubai (each one 6 - 7 hours ish)... can feel the anxiety starting to build... can anyone assure me it's not possible to be trapped in a plane under water please - this is a big fear of mine, especially trying to get off with small kids in tow... i think claustrophobia is the main thing with me, as we flew 13 months…Continue

I'm not 100% happy and am sure I shall feel nervous and at times panicked on board - and if time and childcare permitted would have liked to have…Continue

I just wondered, looking at your book Captain Keith, you talk about the plane's ability to glide for 30 mins, which is really reassuring. Can I ask whether this is still applicable though during take off or landing? On my last landing it felt as though the nose was dipping down for a second until the pilot booted up the power upon descent.
Also you talk in your dvd about the planes' abilities nowadays to fly themselves' (bigger planes etc) - but this makes me…Continue
Hi Keith et all
I flew to Ireland on Thursday, back yesterday from Bristol with Ryanair and it was fine. I didn't really enjoy the flights though so a bit disappointed about that, when we took off on Thursday the plane climbed quite steeply, which I didn't like much, although it was perfectly safe, and then the seatbelt sign came on after it had gone off when we'd levelled out, which I panicked about a little, so i asked the hostess why, and they said something about wheeling the hot…Continue
