After years of dodging flying, I've got to take a one hour flight in the middle of next month for a family gathering. It's only a one-hour flight and it does seem silly to be frightened of it. It doesn't compare to the long 14-hour flight that I have to take next year.
I feel anxious and excited at the same time. Anxious about stepping inside an aircraft again but excited that taking this flight is the first step I am taking towards overcoming my fears. I'll probably by posting more often about my preparation as I slowly progress towards that date.
For me, the anxiety is always worse leading up to the flight. I'll be seeing my therapist soon so that she can talk me through the steps. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.
