Hello Captain Keith, thank you for returning my call when I was at the airport today. The technical fault (eek!) was dealt with sooner than expected and we were hurried onto the plane, so I missed your call. I haven't flown for 10 years until 3 weeks ago when we flew to Lanzarote, but had to return after a couple of days as my Mother-in-law sadly died. We flew back today to start our holiday again. Over the past 40 years I have tried everything including the BA fear of flying course, which didn't help at all as I used to be a regular flyer, in spite of my fear, and I know what all the noises are etc. I used to have to fly occasionally in the course of my work and never let my fear stop me until I developed ME/CFS 8 years ago and felt that I couldn't handle the stress of flying. I'm delighted to say that it's been a long haul, but I'm now very much better and don't want my fear to restrict my, or my husband's life as we are now in a position to take lots of trips abroad if we feel like it, and my husband definitely does. I've recently had hypnotherapy, which has helped I tried NLP some years ago and that helped for a while too. I was very nervous on take off and landing today, as it was the landing gear at the front that they had been fixing. When we flew 3 weeks ago I was much better and thought that I would be ok going forward, but I definitely had a 'wobble' today, although no one ever knows as I appear to be perfectly relaxed, but I'm not inside. I used to be terrified for the whole flight, so just getting down to being nervous on take-off and landing is a definite improvement, but I'd like to get rid of that too. Thanks again. Carol.
