I wondered if anyone knew of the cause yet of that Ethiopian Airways crash that happened a few months back... it's still on my mind that the plane took off in a storm, apparently a flash and it came down - all seemed so sudden and so horrific. I'm flying on two flights in around a months time - one 1 1/2 hour within Europe, then onto a tropical location on an 11 hour flight. It's not going to be relaxing as we're taking twin toddlers aged 2 3/4...and it's 24 hours of travelling.... I would not put them through this for a holiday, we are re-locating! Feeling a lot calmer than before I initially found the site and purchased Captain Keith's dvd and book but not 100% calm...!
I'm also nervous about international airports - if you're flying with a well known European airline which has pretty good standards/reputation, do they have their own Engineers for example based abroad, or are the engineers 'pooled' and employed by the airport. Is H&S the same as in the UK. Air Traffic and weather control etc - is this as safe internationally as over Europe?
I know the answer is no if you're looking at an airline/airport such as the many airlines in Indonesia for example which are blacklisted, but in terms of EU airlines flying to holiday /tropical destinations... is this as safe as flying within Europe/other places with very high H&S standards...
My boys love racing around the room with their arms out roaring and pretending to be planes... which is kind of reassuring!! maybe I should join in a bit more and this will calm the fears!
