It is a big tragedy.

All this does not help a fearfull flyer ! My mind knows the chance of this happening is sooo very small, but the pictures of a crushed airplane make my fear grow

Hi so glad you made it through safely. We had clear air turbulence when we flew to hawaii a couple years ago. No clouds in the sky, and bumpy all the way. I kept my eyes out the window to reassure myself we were not falling out of the sky. So it happens, and obviously we made it home safely. having this fear sucks...

Annelies your comment about being in control is so true!  My sister, brother in law and nieces did the CN Tower Edge Walk in Toronto last week!!  Personally I wouldn't have even gone up the tower!! lol  My sister said she was REALLY surprised my brother in law did it....reason - he said he was in a harness which he could check and if he wanted to stop he could just say "enough".....or - he was in control!!  It's all perspective...that wouldn't have satisfied me but it worked for him!!

doing my best but three in one week?

and yes I know it happens to cars much more...that is the brain, but the feeling is not rational

Yes things do go wrong  but the pilot can fix the problem... that's what all the training is for.

Just because 'things go wrong' it doesn't mean that the plane is doomed, does it?

I could talk to you for hours about all the technical stuff and you'd feel as safe as houses, but why waste all that time ... just take my word for it. My kids didn't worry about Dad flying planes for a job.

It was just a job that dad did.

thank you, it is very true. in a car I feel mmore in control. It doesn't make sense I know.

I just try to get it through my head all this talk about how safe flying is but my head just won't buy it. because things do go wrong, so much technical stuff..I hope everything keeps working properly..

Cars crash too. Do you look for pictures of those? Sounds hard and uncaring but why worry about one and not the other.
