I'm very excited to have found this resource, as I have been afraid of flying since my teen years. I have only flown once in my life - when I was 8 years old. From what I can remember it was a positive experience, but after dealing with anxiety and panic disorders in my teens and 20's, I've just assumed that flying was something I "couldn't handle". Fast forward to next week, and my fiance and I are travelling to New York City (my first time there so I'm a little nervous about that as well!) to see one of his all-time favorite bands play in Central Park. The flight from Norfolk VA to LaGuardia is only about an hour, so I'm hopeful that this short flight will be a good break-in for me for the future, as I really do not want to limit myself on where I can travel based on fear of flight.
I am mostly afraid of the height of the airplane, as the takeoff and landing do not worry me as much. I am not fond of heights, but have been desensitizing myself by looking at photos taken from airplanes. I've been doing this each day for about a week. I am looking forward to purchasing the book from this site to help me on my journey.
